Dr. Chuck DeGroat

Chuck is a co-founder of Newbigin House along with Dr. Scot Sherman, and serves as Vice President. He holds an MDiv and an MA in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando), and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Harold Abel School of Psychology, Capella.

Prior to coming to San Francisco, Chuck served as both a professor and Director of Spiritual Formation at Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando), where he taught courses such as Classics of Personal Devotion, Educational Ministry in the Church, Psychology in Relation to Theology, and more.  Chuck contributes as a writer to many academic and popular journals and magazines, and speaks often at conferences and retreats.  He is author of the book Leaving Egypt: Finding God in Wilderness Places.  He and his wife of 17 years have two daughters.
